Shaykh Mahmoud Al-Assal, an Egyptian native Arabic speaker, graduated from the Alexandria Institute of Qirāʾāt at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif with exceptional academic distinction, consistently earning top rankings.
He earned an Ijāzah in Tajwīd and the Ḥafṣ narration over two years, graduating with an Excellent grade and first-place ranking. He then completed the Advanced Qirāʾāt Program (Ten Qirāʾāt Ijāzah) over three years, again achieving an Excellent grade and first rank.
Shaykh Mahmoud possesses multiple Qur’anic Ijāzāt, including the narrations of ʿĀṣim (2007), Warsh (2010), Qālūn and Abū Jaʿfar (2012), Ibn ʿĀmir (2015), Ḥamzah (2015), and the complete Ten Qirāʾāt (2016), all received from Shaykh Yousry Mohamed Awad. He also holds Ijāzāt in the classical Tajwīd poems Al-Jazariyyah and Al-Tuhfah, granted by leading contemporary scholars.
With over 13 years of teaching experience, Shaykh Mahmoud has taught Qur’an and Qirāʾāt at several prominent Qur’anic centers, including online instruction in English for non-Arabic speakers, as well as teaching at major institutes in Alexandria.
Since 2019, he has served as Director and Co-Founder of Shaykhi Academy, where he is also a Senior Instructor. He teaches advanced Tajwīd, Ijāzah and Qirāʾāt programs, Qur’an memorization, and Qur’an and Arabic reading courses.
